Swiss File Knife is a handy and reliable command line multi function tool for daily tasks. It finds and extracts text in binary files, lists dir tree sizes, filters and replaces text, runs an instant ftp server, http server for easy file transfer, finds duplicate files, joins many text files into one, creates and verifies md5 checksum lists, runs a command on all files, detab text, creates hexdumps from files, traces contents of a tcp connection, finding dependencies between files, prints colored text to terminal, locates commands in the path, prints last lines of a file, converts CR/LF, hex to binary, binary to source code, splits and joins large files, lists the contents of all .zip .jar .tar.gz and .tar.bz2 files.
It offers detailed help and easy syntax - whereever possible, there is a descriptive help text, understandable error message, suggestion for improvement. Options are written in plain english - it's no longer
